Program Goal and Purpose

The goal of LGSP was to assist the Philippine Government in realizing its objectives of equitable growth and poverty reduction through effective local governance, with enhanced stakeholder participation in the target regions. The purpose of LGSP was to strengthen effective local governance in the target regions of Western Visayas and all of Mindanao with outcomes characterized by:

 

•         More efficient and effective LGU leadership and management
•         Enhanced access to and improved quality of services especially for the poor and disadvantaged groups
•         More equitable, efficient, effective, transparent and sustainable generation, allocation and utilization of resources
•         More effective and equitable participation by individuals, private sector and civil society organizations in local governance
